XAFS21 Welcome Invitation
Sydney warmly invites you to the 18th International Conference on X-Ray Absorption Fine Structure (XAFS2021) on 11-16 July, 2021
Come and join us at this superb international scientific event in the dream destination of Australia; one of the most beautiful places on earth to visit.
Our exciting program offers you the opportunity to present your most recent scientific advances in XAS and catch up with the most up-to-date developments in synchrotron radiation science, environmental and technology as it is applied across hugely diverse scientific disciplines.
With this in mind, a program of workshops and tours has also been developed for those of you wanting to hone new skills in your research or gain insights into bridging XAS with other synchrotron and user facility analytical techniques. There will be the opportunity to visit Australia’s only nuclear reactor which provides neutron user facilities at ANSTO’s head office in Lucas Heights.
In the sub-tropical climate of Sydney we will deliver the unique experience of Australia; enjoy indigenous traditional dance; our superbly fresh food and extraordinary wine and a night-life of excitement with opportunities to socialise with old friends and to make new ones.
XAFS2021 will be held at Australia’s oldest university - The University of Sydney. Founded in 1851, it’s known as one of Australia's six sandstone universities and its campus has been ranked in the top 10 of the world’s most beautiful by the British Daily Telegraph and The Huffington Post.
Sydney offers access to hotels, restaurants, iconic heritage and tourist sites that are within walking distance or easily accessed by public transport. Experience Sydney’s natural beauty and culture around Sydney Harbour. Explore famous coastal beaches or visit two of Sydney’s local World Heritage Listed sites – The Sydney Opera House and the Blue Mountains. Australia is an exciting destination boasting spectacular wilderness, rare wildlife, rich indigenous heritage and friendly hospitality.
Come early or stay a few days after XAFS2021; bring the family to swim and snorkel on other Australian World Heritage Listed areas renowned for their beauty - the Great Barrier Reef or Ningaloo Reef; discover the majesty of Kakadu and Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Parks; or simply enjoy our world-class wine and food. Australia is a perfect destination for those seeking an island escape.
We look forward to seeing you in 2021!
